I seem to say this every week but I will get back in to my blogging flow soon, I have had another busy week with work but managed to grab some great pictures of Edinburgh, check them out here!
I was sorting my suitcase out this week and one of my personal business cards fell on to the bed, and thought it looked good in this light, but it is also reflects a thought I have been having regarding social media this week.
This is becoming a common excuse, but work has been busy and had very little time to either get out and take pictures, except when I have my phone! .....
I love it when a little plan comes together!
The bank holiday presented an opportunity for me and little geek to go to Wales and spend some quality father and daughter time, it used to be father and daughters time but the teen ....... oh hang on she is 20 now I cant call her that! (any suggestions for nick names....??) as I was saying the teen used to come with us but that is boring these days!
Of late work has been very busy, so have had little spare time along with a couple of trips away, to Barcelona (more on that here) and to Pembrokeshire, has meant that my list of series and films to watch on Netflix is growing!
I cannot believe that a week has gone (almost) since we came back from Pembrokeshire! I have been trying to get out 2 blog posts all week but I have not had the energy to get the completed! April is a crazy time of year for work and all my mental strength has been going towards that this week leaving nothing left for the blog!
We have been in Pembrokeshire since Friday for a nice long weekend, been nice spending time exploring the area that we already know very well.
The only good day weather wise has been on Friday when we stopped in St Davids and also went on a boat tour of Ramsey Island.
This past week has been a busy one!
This time last Sunday we were ready to fly off to Barcelona for a short 2 night break, going away with my parents for the first time in years, as well as the wife, after all the main reason for the trip was for her to be away for her Birthday! But we were also joined by my parents oldest friends.
This post is a bit of a story, a relationship that I have had all my life just like you! This is my relationship with sleep!
It has been a strange one, I remember being a kid and hating sleep, I never wanted to go to sleep…. ever! In many ways little geek is very much the same, it shows weakness in her eyes to admit that she is tired, despite numerous attempts to explain to her that it is ok to go to bed early or have a snooze!
I am hoping that you know today is International Women's Day, The United Nations first began celebrating the day on 8th March 1975, this years campaign theme for 2016 is #PledgeForParity, being the Dad to 2 girls this is something I hope for in their lifetime, although as it stands that is still a challenge.
The current goals for International Women's Day fit in with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, more of which can be read here.
Information released by the World Economic Forum last year estimated that the gender equality gap wouldn't close entirely until 2133, so not within the girls life time at all!
It is Mother's Day and it now seems a suitable time to write a post about my Mum and why I am one very lucky son!
Not just the fact that I am very lucky to have my Mum still in my life, so many people aren't as this post from The Unmumsy Mum reminded me yesterday, as well as Facebook post from my Uncle Steve this morning! But for the fact that thanks to my Mum there is so much I have to be thankful for. I was wondering about the best way to write this post, then thought why not put it in a letter, so here goes!
Mother's day is always a difficult thing to shop for in the geek house hold! Mumyougeek's birthday always falls around the same time as Mother's day, it was once even on the same day, so distinguishing between the two has often been difficult, and little geek and the teen have wanted to make it feel special in one way or another!
I suppose it is fare to say I am no food blogger, however I do love eating out (who doesn't?) so when the opportunity to review Coast to Coast in Stevenage presented itself I wasn't going to say no!
What makes the difference between a good restaurant and a great restaurant is the staff, and this is the place I have to start for our visit of Coast to Coast in Stevenage.
We had our table booked for 7pm on Saturday night, probably one of their busiest times. We were warmly welcomed upon entering and quickly shown to our table, I had to say I was pretty pleased that it was one of their booth tables.
She is growing up so quickly.....
Blogging brings many treats and when the folks from ADHB Pork asked if I would like the opportunity at cooking a pulled pork recipe I jumped at the chance (free pork who would say no... sorry if you are a veggie! you might!).
The wife is very much the cook in our house, but with Mothers Day fast approaching, I took the opportunity to cook her a lovely meal, but I had a dilemma, as well as being sent a grand shoulder of pork, we were also sent some ingredients and a short recipe book!
